‘American Idol’ Alum Casey ‘Quigley’ Goode Shares Her 2-Week-Old Son Has COVID-19

Casey "Quigley" Goode has had a very rough introduction to motherhood.

Casey and husband Alex Goode welcomed their first child, Max, on September 18. Their baby boy arrived a few weeks ahead of his due date.

Max spent eight days in the NICU before Casey and Alex were able to take their little guy home. They've shared so many adorable moments with fans already.

Sadly, things took a scary turn in an update Casey shared on Monday. She revealed that over the weekend, Max tested positive for COVID-19.

Naturally, it's terrifying for any parent to learn their child is sick with a potentially deadly virus. It's even scarier when they just cleared a medical hurdle a week prior.

Casey shared that they believe Max may have caught it from one of the medical professionals who'd been treating him. As a result, he and Casey are back at the hospital. Mother and son are quarantining in the PICU.

Casey "Quigley" Goode is a new mama who has already been through quite a bit. Casey and husband Alex Goode welcomed their baby boy ahead of schedule. She shared the sobering details of her delivery in a candid Instagram post.

"I went into labor at 37 weeks exactly as @jackpoticorn and I were leaving our babymoon in Ojai," Casey began.

"As we were making the drive back, I got some alarming blood work results back stating that I had a condition called cholestasis that put me and baby at risk. We decided to labor at home for a while to see if I could still have my planned home birth but baby's movements stopped so we decided to go to the hospital."

"When we got there, we discovered that I also had preeclampsia. My blood pressure was skyrocketing so they quickly put me on an IV of magnesium to prevent me from having a seizure," she continued.

"I labored for under 12 hours and pushed for about 30 minutes before baby's heart rate dropped quite low wouldn't come back up. My OB got into the room and immediately had to vacuum him out.

"It got really scary at the end as he wasn't crying or moving much when he came out. They took him for some tests and I only got to see him for about three seconds before he went to the NICU."

The next day, Casey introduced the world to Max and shared a little more of his story.

"Introducing… Maximilian Vaughn Goode. Surprise! Another curveball! It is with my whole heart and soul and greatest pride that I share with you, our son, Max," she wrote.

"As you probably know we had been debating a handful of names for quite some time. I kept waiting for a cosmic sign or some kind of certainty about it, but nothing ever felt 100% right in my gut. This week, we narrowed it down to either Sterling or Montgomery… but I kept going back and forth. I thought I would know when I saw him so, I waited. After I delivered, I only got to see him for a few seconds before he went to the NICU. The next day, when I got to finally reallyyyyy meet him I tried out both names and neither felt right."

"There was a third name, Max, that Alex and I had talked about. It was the name of his baby brother. Most of you probably don't know this… but my husband was not always an only child. When he was 12, his brother was born and was only on this earth a short while before he passed of a heart condition," she shared.

"My head was at war deciding between two names… but deep down in my soul, I was starting to feel there was another choice… one choice. And that choice stemmed from the purest, most abundant form of love I've ever felt in my life. No need to fight a war in my head, when there was clarity in my heart.

"After a series of bizarre and unexpected twists and turns this week, I asked the Universe and God to show me the answer. And boy did they respond. I had so many signs pointing me to Max, it was impossible to ignore. The videos here explain part of it… but I'll post the whole story soon. It has to do with God, Dogs, and A Goofy Movie. ❤️."

Casey and Alex were able to bring Max home after eight days in the NICU. Casey opened up to fans about her first days of motherhood.

"Being a mom so far is so precious. It's hard, but I'm truly enjoying it. He smells so good and even when he is crying I feel so happy," she wrote.

"I am so grateful to have my husband at home with me helping… And also both the grandmas are here. I definitely think anyone trying to do this alone deserves a freaking medal. To all the mamas out there… YOU ROCK."

In a more recent update, we discovered that Casey was in the hospital with Max yet again. The 2-week-old baby had tested positive for COVID-19.

"Max tested positive for COVID-19 early Saturday am. We took him into the ER after he was running a fever in the middle of the night," she wrote.

"We had confirmation that he was exposed from direct contact with a medical professional who had cared for him earlier in the week," she continued.

"This has been a total shock to us. I am currently quarantining with baby Max in the PICU. They are treating me as if I have been exposed and are likely positive as well, although I am showing no symptoms yet."

Alex also shared the news on his own Instagram.

"Max tested positive for COVID-19 early Saturday morning. He and @officiallyquigley are currently quarantined together in the pediatric ICU," he wrote.

"His fever has come down since being admitted, but he has been put on oxygen as a precaution," he continued.

"We are in good spirits but we could also use some positive vibes, so please keep Mad Maxi & Mama Quigley in your thoughts tonight."
