Third Grader Cayden Taipalus may be small, but he has a heart as big as a giant.
The young boy was heartbroken one day on his school's lunch line, when he saw that a classmate had to return his tray of food, because he couldn't afford it. That's when he decided he was going to raise money, so no kid at his Challenger Elementary School will go hungry.
With help from his mom, 8-year-old Cayden raised over $20,000 in about two weeks, via online fundraising, donations from classmates and friends, and returning cans and bottles. While the school's principal says no kid is refused a lunch, with help from Cayden's fundraising, now every kid can have a premium, warm lunch and not feel different from the other kids.
When asked about his simple act of kindness Cayden said "A small thing can turn out to be a big thing." In this case, his kind deed was a very, very big thing.
