Friendship has always been a great basis for love. Some of the best couples out there met running in the same circles.
That said, love is unpredictable. You never know when it will strike. It can even strike on a blind date. Blind dates may seem a little cheesy, but you'd be surprised how effective they've been. In fact, quite a few couples in Hollywood were set up by friends and quickly realized they met their match.
From Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to Emily Blunt and John Krasinski, here are some of the celebrity couples who were set up on blind dates and ended up finding the love of their life.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle
In their engagement interview, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle revealed they had been set up on a blind date by a friend.
"It was definitely a set-up. It was a blind date," Meghan said.
"I didn't know much about him and so the only thing I had asked her when she said she wanted to set us up was, I had one question, I said 'Is he nice?'"
Five very eventful years and almost two kids later, it's safe to say she thought he was nice.
Kamala Harris and Doug Emhoff
Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, were first set up by mutual friend Chrisette Hudlin. She instructed Kamala not to "overthink it" and not to Google Doug. Kamala may not have listened.
In her memoir The Truths We Hold, Kamala recalls Doug leaving her a long voicemail before their first date. "He thought his voicemail had been disastrous and that he’d likely never hear from me again," she wrote.
"He had to restrain himself from calling again and leaving another long-winded message trying to explain the first one."
Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher
Carrie Underwood's bassist, Mark Childers, asked the singer about introducing her to his friend, NHL star Mike Fisher. At the time, it was difficult to get things going.
Carrie was living and working in Tennessee, while Mike was living and working in Canada. It was difficult for the two to get together, but they talked all the time. They finally got around to their first date on New Year's Eve 2008. They kissed when the ball dropped, and the rest is history.
Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen
Tom Brady revealed that a friend offered to set him up with Gisele Bündchen just weeks after his relationship with actress Bridget Moynahan ended.
"This friend told me he knew a girl version of me," he recalled.
"And he said to me he'd found a boy version of me," Gisele added.
Amy Schumer and Chris Fischer
Amy Schumer never could have imagined how she'd meet her future husband, Chris Fischer. He was the brother of her assistant, Molly Fischer. Molly suggested Chris come cook for them when they were on a trip to Martha's Vineyard, since he's an award-winning chef. Amy and Chris met and hit it off, beginning their love story.
Khloé Kardashian and Tristan Thompson
While things have been rocky for Khloé Kardashian and Tristan Thompson, there's no arguing she's happy he came into her life. That happened thanks to a blind date.
"I was put on a blind date with Tristan and that's how [we met]," she shared on the Keeping Up With the Kardashians 10-year anniversary special.
"Brandon Jennings, who is a basketball player and a friend of mine and Maliqa's, was like, 'You're such a good girl, I want to introduce you to someone.' I was at the Bel-Air hotel, and [Tristan] came to the dinner. I didn't want to go on a blind date, so Brandon kind of ambushed the blind date. We just connected."
Tamera Mowry-Housley and Adam Housley
Tamera Mowry came to meet husband Adam Housley during her time at Pepperdine University. Their economics professor, Robert Sexton, set them up after Adam saw a photo of Tia and Tamera on the professor's wall of favorite students.
Tamera didn't want a relationship at the time but agreed to share her email. She figured it would be easier to let him down that way, but when talking back and forth, the two ended up hitting it off.
Lauren Conrad and William Tell
While Lauren Conrad and William Tell first became an item thanks to a blind date, they'd met a long time before.
"I met my husband when I was 16 and sitting onstage at one of his concerts," she said of the former Something Corporate guitarist, now an entertainment lawyer.
"10 years later we were set up on a blind date." That was Valentine's Day 2012, and nearly a decade later, the couple is as in love as ever before.

"We had never seen each other before. It was our dialect coach, the person who helped us both with the accent. So, this lady started to talk to each other about each other. Finally, she insisted so much that I thought, 'Okay, let's meet.' We talked on the phone and we met."
Emily Blunt and John Krasinski
Allow us to present you with another reason to love The Devil Wears Prada. Anne Hathaway and costar Emily Blunt hit it off. Anne decided to introduce her to this funny guy from The Office, John Krasinski.
"It was one of those things where I wasn't really looking for a relationship," John once told Ellen DeGeneres.
"But I met her, and I was so nervous and I was like, 'oh no I'm going to fall in love with her.' I shook her hand and I went, 'I like you.'"
Salma Hayek and François-Henri Pinault
Salma Hayek wasn't exactly thrilled to be set up on a blind date. That may be because she didn't know it was going to be a date at all.
"My first date with my husband started badly," she told Latina magazine.
"I didn't know it was a date. I thought I was going to an event, and then there was one person at it. I was set up by friends to think I was going to an event, because they knew I wouldn't go on a date! I was angry. And he didn't know, because he thought I knew he was coming just to meet him. I started out really badly, but, as you can see, it ended happy." All's well that ends well.
Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber

Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel
Jessica Biel has 7th Heaven costar Beverley Mitchell to thank for meeting her husband. Beverley introduced the two at a 2007 awards show and instantly realized they were perfect for each other.
"I was there like the moment the love connection happened," Beverley explained to Marie Claire UK.
"I was like, OK, this is happening. It was at the Golden Globes. It was so cute because they were like — it’s that moment like I like you, I think you like me. It was very, very sweet. They were definitely flirting. They were really cute."

"They started dating and [are] crazy about each other."
Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston
While Brad and Jen didn't go the distance, you can't argue that they weren't one of the most talked-about, iconic couples in modern Hollywood history. The two A-listers met after their agents set them up on a blind date. Each made a good impression on the other, and thus the golden couple of Hollywood was born. Some fans still hope to see this couple get back together to this day.
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds
Possibly the best part of the Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds blind date story is that they weren't set up with each other. On a double date, they were each set up with another respective man and woman, who had to watch the two fall in love in real time.
"She was on a date with another guy and I was on a date with another girl," Ryan explained to Entertainment Weekly.
"That was like the most awkward date for the respective parties because it was just like fireworks coming across [the table]."

"I [got a little too drunk]. We all did," he continued.
"We ended up back at my house drinking shots of tequila. But she was really cool and somehow I talked her into going to — I was on my way to do a movie called The Resident in New Mexico and she was on her way to Paris — and I talked her into, instead of going to Paris, to come and see me in New Mexico. And I ruined her life and now she's stuck with me."

"At that moment the universe spoke to me. I left and went straight to Ayda’s house and committed to her."
Meghan Trainor and Daryl Sabara
Unlike some of these other celebrity couples, Meghan actually asked her dear friend, Chloë Grace Moretz, to set her up.
"I was like, 'You know anybody that I could date?' And she's like, 'I know the nicest guy in the world, Daryl, and you should meet him,'" Meghan told Chelsea Handler.
Today, the two are married and just welcomed a baby boy.
Jon Stewart and Tracey McShane
Both Jon Stewart and Tracey McShane had never been on a blind date before they were set up with each other.
"It's a fairy tale from my end. I had just gotten out of a seven-year relationship. I was depressed, and my friends were trying to set me up all the time," Tracey told Oprah Winfrey.
"After a bad date, they'd ask, 'What are you looking for?' I had discovered The Jon Stewart Show, so I said, 'Someone funny and sweet, like Jon Stewart.'
"My roommate was working on a movie set, and Jon knew someone who worked on that set. So Jon stopped by to say hello. They were all sitting around talking about how they weren't having much success with dating. My friend said, 'I have a roommate who thinks you're cute. She saw you on TV.'"
Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris

Kourtney Kardashian & Scott Disick
When you're a Kardashian, a blind date is more like a blind vacation. Kourtney arrived at Girls Gone Wild creator Joe Francis' Mexico home for a fun weekend with friends. There, he introduced her to Scott Disick.

Once they reconnected, they looked back on the night and laughed, and they're still making each other laugh to this day.
Kris Jenner and Caitlyn Jenner

"Not many people know this, but the way Anderson and I met about 20 years ago is we were set up on a blind date. It didn't take. It just didn't work. We're meant to be best friends … We're meant to be good friends and not boyfriends."
Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden
Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden had met a few times before, so it wasn't a totally blind date that got them together. It was, however, the matchmaking work of Cameron's friend and Benji's sister-in-law, Nicole Richie.
