Family dynamics are complicated and can be difficult to navigate. These interpersonal relationships can be compounded when lines get blurry. If you work and live with your family, sometimes you have to compartmentalize. King Charles and Prince Harry know this all too well.
There is another wrinkle in the ongoing estrangement between the father and son, or should we say king and subject? Charles is evicting Harry and Meghan from their UK home, Frogmore Cottage, and instead gifting it to his brother Prince Andrew. This was all put into motion just one day after Harry’s tell-all memoir, Spare, was released.
A source close to the palace confirmed this Windsor drama to Page Six. “This eviction surely spells the end of Harry and Meghan’s time in the UK,” another source told The Sun. Charles has not presented Meghan and Harry any alternative housing.
The couple — who eventually settled in Montecito, California, after stepping down from their royal duties — does not seem rattled by this move. They were recently seen out on a date night at the San Vicente Bungalows, a private club in Los Angeles. Harry is pleased his memoir is doing well and that his side of the story is out for the world to hear.
“Harry said he was really happy about the success of the book and the reaction to it. He said he had no regrets about any of the revelations, and he’s relieved to have got his story out into the world. There’s been an amazing reaction to it, he said,” Page Six's source went on to say.
Andrew is less pleased about his new housing situation. The disgraced prince, who is no longer a working royal, is currently living at the Royal Lodge, which has 30 bedrooms and a pool. Frogmore Cottage has just five.
“Andrew is resisting the idea of moving into Frogmore Cottage after he was offered it last week,” The Sun's source stated. “But it shows Harry and Meghan are powerless to stop the eviction.”
