Selling Sunset's Chrishell Stause just opened up to People in an exclusive interview. The reality star who was famously left heartbroken after the unexpected end of her marriage to Justin Hartley, wants to be a mother. She revealed that she hopes it's still a possibility and she's already taken steps to plan for motherhood.
"I have taken the steps to freeze my eggs," the 39-year-old star revealed. The choice to freeze one's eggs can be totally empowered and it seems like that's how Chrishell is looking at it. She said she wanted to take some pressure of herself which the dreaded ticking biological clock can certainly add! This way, it can happen when she's ready.
"I'm going to do everything I can to take that power in the situation," she said. "And hopefully, that will empower me going forward in the dating world, so there's not so much pressure."
Chrishell's split from Justin Hartley was crushing. On the hit show, Selling Sunset, we had an up-close and personal look at what happened. But the most unsettling part was that Chrishell seemed utterly blindsided when Justin filed for divorce. Then, the information went public almost immediately after she found out herself.
The reality star says that since the split, which happened in November 2019, it's been tough getting back on her feet. But now, she's moving on with her life. She's settling into her new home, and on top of that, she landed a new reality gig on Dancing With the Stars, which is in its third week.
Meanwhile, Chrishell is planning for her future. She says she froze her eggs and is hoping that having a baby can still happen for her. "I definitely had a different idea for where I would be at this age and stage in my life," she says. "There's a family aspect that I'm missing that I hope is still a possibility for me."
Finding yourself a bit older than you thought you might be and still single, whether it's because of a breakup, or because you just haven't found someone you want to start a family with, happens. But for modern women, luckily, there are many ways to start a family later in life. The path to motherhood doesn't look the same for every woman anyway. So, more power to Chrishell for taking control of her future.
Of course, freezing your eggs can come with a lot of twist and turns. Chrishell says the hormone shots she had to take took a toll on her body. "I was in the middle of the process when DWTS approached me. So for the first weeks of rehearsal, I was giving myself daily hormone shots while learning the tango, and the procedure was done a few days before the premiere of the show," she says.
It's definitely been a year of a ton of changes for Chrishell. But all of those changes seem to have shown her her own strength. It's likely one of the reasons why she was a pick for DWTS. People love to see someone really embrace their inner fighter and turn their pain into something beautiful.
She is definitely feeling ready to move on and it seems pretty clear from watching her compete on the show. "Everything happens for a reason," she says. "I'm grateful for the twists and the turns, as painful as they've been."
While Chrishell will likely always have a lot of feelings about the end of a significant relationship, it seems like she is finally putting her past behind her. She and Justin were together for many years, though, so it certainly hasn't been easy. They got together in 2013 when they were introduced by a Days of Our Lives castmate. They got married in October 2017.
By all accounts, though, Chrishell seems better off on her own. She's coming into her success in her work. She's starring on a hit reality show. And, she's even filed to have her maiden name restored. While things haven't been easy on the star, she's certainly reclaiming her power.
We have to wonder what Justin thinks of Chrishell's newfound success. She just seems to radiate joy on DWTS which is basically the ultimate comeback. We have no idea whether or not he's rooting for her, but chances are, he's watching her bloom, like the rest of us.
