Christina Anstead and Tarek El Moussa have a lot to be proud of.
It's hard to remain amicable after a divorce, but they did that. It's harder still to co-parent two kids across two households. Yet they've found a way to make it work.
Perhaps the most crowning achievement the former couple shares is their ability to stay in business together after everything they've been through. Christina and Tarek's show, Flip or Flop, was recently picked up for a 10th season. It's led both of them to reflect on how things have changed between them, both on- and off-screen.
Despite all the changes that have affected their family, Christina and Tarek remain on good terms. Their kids are happy and healthy, and they feel loved in both households. It's co-parenting goals in the realest sense, and they're proud that they were able to make it happen.
Christina Anstead and Tarek El Moussa recently received news that Flip or Flop has been picked up for a 10th season. It's exciting for the duo, and an opportunity to look back at where 10 years of the show has taken them.
Christina recently posted about the milestone on Instagram. "Feels weird to say this – but I'm excited to announce #FlipOrFlop has been picked up for a 10th season!" she wrote.
"My goal was always a decade of tv. It's a big accomplishment in this industry and something @therealtarekelmoussa and I are both proud of… It has been one h— of a ride. I love the fact that Tay and Bray will get to look back at this journey and watch themselves grow up."
Christina and Tarek began hosting Flip or Flop together in 2013 as a married couple. They separated in 2016 after seven years of marriage. Their divorce was finalized in early 2018.
Ahead of season nine of Flip or Flop, Christina reflected on everything she and Tarek have been through.
"I can still vividly picture making a pitch video for flip or flop in 2010. I was pregnant with Tay sitting on the couch in our San Clemente condo (with a home video camera on us) wondering what crazy idea Tarek was getting me into now," she recalled.
"I was thinking no way will this go anywhere but whatever, I'm usually never not down to give something a shot."
"God will always open doors meant to open, and this one opened wide," she continued.
"Even after babies, divorces, and engagements the show continues…. I am beyond grateful for this crazy ride – it's been a lot of things, (including bug infested and rancid smells) but it's never been boring. ."
Christina and Tarek enjoyed a fun week on set. Tarek shared a behind-the-scenes shot that showed their daughter, 10-year-old Taylor Reese, hanging out on set.
"We had some fun filming with my baby girl and her mama! I’m telling you…Taylor rocks design!" Tarek captioned the photo.
"I'm so proud and excited for Taylor," the dad gushed.
"She's such a brilliant little girl and she's full of life. I hope more than anything that she will be working by my side one day❤️."
Tarek then asked his followers which path Taylor should start down.
"Should Tay get into design, investing, television, or all three!!? What should we do with this amazing girl!
"Let's start planning her future…she is almost 11 ."
Christina shared the shot from the set as well.
"Love when Tay joins us on set!!" she added. It's clear the bond between mama and daughter is a strong one.
Taylor and little brother Brayden don't just have a sweet relationship with their dad. They also have gotten along great with Tarek's fiancée, Heather Rae Young. Heather shared how much she's enjoying being part of their lives in an Instagram post over the summer.
"I love being a bonus mom, future stepmama!!" she wrote.
"Watching them grow up in front of my eyes. So loving and so curious about life."
The kids have also faced the changes in Christina's life. This year, she and husband Ant Anstead decided to split after nearly two years of marriage and the birth of their 1-year-old, Hudson London. She reflected on how transformative this year has been for her in a recent Instagram post.
"2020 definitely is not at all what I imagined it to be – not even close- but I also think there are soooo many lessons in all of this madness. I've been finding time to get to know myself more in the quiet. It can be isolating but it's also helped me begin to heal and get less uncomfortable in 'the void,'" she shared.
"What I'm finding too is a lot of us have so much but aren't truly fulfilled… I've felt this way too and while I want to slap myself sometimes for being so ungrateful it's true and we can't deny truth," she continued.
"If you feel this way too why do you think this is?? A project I'm working on next year is going to be exploring this much deeper. Spiritual healing has been my passion for years so I'm looking forward to diving in deep. Despite a lot of [expletive] there have been some really magical times – like this view ."
While Christina is eager to see what 2021 holds in store for her, Tarek has an idea of what his will look like. He and Heather plan to get married in the summer of 2021. Once that's said and done, they're eager to see where the year takes them.
