It’s baby’s first magazine article. Da Brat and wife Jesseca "Judy" Harris-Dupart shared the first photos of their son True Legend with People magazine and opened up to the outlet about their experience growing their family.
The couple is over the moon with their little man who was born on July 6, 2023. Da Brat carried him at Judy’s insistence, because she had not yet experienced childbirth. Judy has three adult children of her own. Da Brat is so appreciative of her partner and body for the gift of her son.
Da Brat might still be wrapping her head around the tiny miracle. “Look, this came out of my stomach,” she stated. “I cry every day. I just look at him and boo-hoo, because I’m so grateful.”
Da Brat knew the odds were stacked against her. “I’m 49, I’m high-risk, I have high blood pressure,” she explained, getting emotional. “So many women so much younger than me want kids and can’t have them, and I had a successful pregnancy. It’s just an honor. He’s such a blessing.”

Da Brat and Judy were married on February 22, 2022. Their fairy tale wedding was held at the Horse Mansion in Fairburn, Georgia. The brides arrived in separate horse-drawn carriages in dresses designed by Esé Azénabor.
To conceive True Legend, Da Brat and Judy utilized in vitro fertility treatments. They used Judy’s eggs and an anonymous donor’s sperm. Da Brat did have a miscarriage before becoming pregnant with her son, making him a rainbow baby.
Da Brat credits God for her successful pregnancy. “I think God plans out our journey,” she stated. “I’m very happy He saw fit for me to have him.”
True Legend was born by means of a scheduled cesarean section. Da Brat did not feel any contractions, stating the epidural was the only pain she endured. “I never want to do that again but for him it was worth it,” she recalled. She also admits to panicking during the birth but Judy helped her through it by playing their love mix.
The new family of three is settling in nicely at home. “He made us closer,” Da Brat explained. They share mom duties equally. “We always change his diaper together,” Da Brat stated.
While Da Brat might have not predicted this mom life for herself, she is so happy it found her. “Who would ever think this? Da Brat-a-tat-tat from 1994!” she stated. “I’m with a beautiful, successful woman who completes me and inspires me to be better. I’m elated to be a mother. I never thought I would be, and I wouldn’t change it for the world. I never need another thing in life.”
