Volunteer Organization Provides Disabled Children With Prosthetic Hands For Free

"Enabling the future" is the tagline of e-NABLE, an organization working hard to provide free access to technology for the disabled. This is actually quite revolutionary, as few children have the ability to purchase extremely expensive prosthetics that easily cost thousands upon thousands of dollars. Since 2013, e-NABLE has already provided over 1,000 prosthetic hands to disabled individuals — free of charge.

We covered this amazing organization before when an 8-year-old girl, Isabella, was gifted with a beautiful prosthetic that would allow her to use the part of her left arm that is missing. Even Robert Downey Jr. is involved in this organization!

This time, the video Kieran’s Hand follows a young boy without fingers on his right hand. "It was pretty hard," Kieran says when he speaks about the time in his life before he received his new prosthetic. He was born with Amniotic Band Syndrome, which causes birth anomalies. "I'd get bullied a lot, and I really wanted to […] have friends."

While difficult to imagine someone as bright and kind-hearted as Kieran not having anyone to call a friend, it was through the incredible work of e-NABLE that he quickly gained more confidence. "I think it's pretty cool that I'm one of the people actually testing this out for a bunch of other people,” Kieran said, all smiles.

With over 5,400 members, e-NABLE is "on track" to provide 6,000 people with new prosthetics.
