2-Month-Old Infant Weighs Over 14 Pounds, So Doctor Tells Mom To Put Her On A Diet

Nowadays, it's no secret that childhood obesity is a problem in our society. Parents are doing everything they can to prevent or correct their child's bad habits early in life so that they can become healthy adults.

But how young is too young? One mother claims that her baby's pediatrician said that the 2-month old had an increased chance of being obese as a child because of her feeding habits and appetite.

Mom Allison Cooper and her husband realized that their newborn daughter was a little on the "chubby" side, but never thought that her doctor would insinuate that she would need to go on a diet to correct any future issue.

That's when Allison realized: the doctor just fat-shamed her infant.

Despite her better instincts, she tried to take the pediatrician's advice and to cut back on the amount she was feeding her daughter. But when she couldn't stand to see her daughter hungry, she decided to hit back in an online post.

Allison Cooper took her infant daughter to her 2-month appointment and admitted to being a little nervous. The little one was about to get her vaccinations, and she didn't want to see the baby in pain.

But when they arrived at the doctor's, it's what the pediatrician told the mother about her baby's weight that shocked her the most.

The baby's weight increased more than it was "supposed" to, up to just over 14 pounds, and the doctor warned that if her weight increased too rapidly, she could be obese later.

But she couldn't stand to see her daughter hungry and crying. She writes for Romper.com, "As a parent, sometimes you need to hold your ground in the face of other people's advice and know within your gut that you are doing the right thing for your child."
