This 5-Year-Old’s Mom Collapsed. What She Did? Every Parent Needs To See This!

Five-year-old Elleemae Addison was at home with her mother Loretta and her sister, who was just 3 months old at the time, when her mum suffered an epileptic fit. The brave girl made a life-saving call that will break your heart.

Now, the heart-wrenching recording is featured in a new awareness campaign that poses the question: Could your child save a life?

Loretta had previously told her daughter to dial 999 (the equivalent of dialing 911 in the United States) if she collapsed. If Elleemae's story teaches us anything, it is that it is never too early to teach your kids this important emergency information.

We reported recently on a little girl who knew exactly what to do as her dad was suffering a heart attack, and also a 4-year-old boy whose 911 call ultimately saved his mom's life.

In a recording of the phone call, which is from January 2012, Elleemae can be heard saying: "My mum had a fit."

When the operator asks whether her mum is still having a fit Elleemae replies: "No she's asleep."

But not every child would know what to do in such an emergency, which is why Mumsnet and creative agency Grey London have produced an advert to raise awareness of the importance of teaching children about emergency services.

In a survey released today, Mumsnet found that out of 757 respondents, 37% have not taught their children to dial 999, with nearly half of those not doing so because they don’t think their child is mature enough. It might even save your life!
