When you're a little kid, there are any number of things that can keep you up at night. Some are imaginary, like monsters under the bed, while others are quite real — like noisy neighbors.
Parents Susie Verrill and Greg Rutherford's 3-year-old son Milo has recently been kept awake by the latter. That said, the source of the noise is still forcing the parents to use their imaginations.
To be plain, it's the neighbors' noisy sex life in particular that are waking the 3-year-old up in the wee hours of the morning.
Greg also happens to be an Olympic long-jumper. Unfortunately, the athlete's prowess on the field has not translated into similar success when it comes to his son getting a sound night's sleep.
In order to address the issue, Susie decided to pen a gentle note to the neighbors to kindly ask them to lower the volume a little bit.
Susie posted a copy of the note on Instagram, which read:
Hi! We’re genuinely very happy you guys enjoy a healthy relationship, so please don’t read this as a passive-aggressive note, but…
[I]f you’re having fun around 1/2am, would you mind maybe being a tiny bit less vocal? It wakes our son up & we’re having a tricky time explaining you’re not a ghost….
Susie left her neighbors the note as an olive branch of sorts, hoping they wouldn't take it the wrong way.
Of course, the ghost drawing didn't hurt.
Susie shared the note on Instagram in hopes of gauging her neighbors' reaction from her followers.
She posted:
Guys. Would you be offended to get this note through your letterbox? Our neighbours have a very healthy relationship which is ACE and we don’t want to stop anyone having fun but the, erm… ecstasy screams, at 2am are waking Milo up.
And he then presumes it’s a poltergeist. Because quite honestly they’re at a reasonably high level volume wise.
Not looking to embarrass or pee anyone off, especially as we’re moving back out soon anyway/they’re childless and still get a frequent bonk on but yeah… I’m tired. Does the cartoon ghost help?
All of the feedback to Susie's question was positive.
I think we can agree that she was as kind and noninvasive as possible.
Of course, the unanimous answer to the question "Does the cartoon ghost help?" was yes.
It's also worth mentioning that the couple in question is probably just having too much fun to realize how loud they're being.
Hey, that's also something to celebrate!
Lucky for Milo, the ghosts next door are probably going to do what ghosts do best and disappear.
