People seem to love the popular drive-through safaris where you can wheel around in a vehicle and get a closer look at animals you might otherwise only see behind a fence or on television. The concept is brilliant. It's a fairly safe, monitored way of interacting with creatures that we don't normally get to interact with. It can, however, get a little unwieldy when the animals get a little too close for comfort.
That appears to be exactly what happens to YouTuber Dawn O'Hara and her family while in their car checking out some of the wildlife during a 2012 drive-through safari.
As soon as Dawn and her family (including several children) see the enormous giraffes walking around, they're in complete awe. The majestic, long-necked creatures start moving around a bit and one even begins to approach their car.
In fact, one giraffe is so brazen that it actually comes all the way up to O'Hara's car and sticks its head into the open passenger's side window where one of the children feeds it something. That, of course, only prompts the giraffe to further explore the car, sticking its neck into the window and down into the car's sun roof.
Luckily for the family, this video is all played for laughs. The giraffe starts drooling profusely all over the car and the kids get a kick out of it (while also being a little bit grossed out), and it retreats once it's stolen some of the family's food. It's actually quite funny.
That being said, I don't recommend feeding wild animals from your car unless you're prepared to peel away when things don't go as planned. This giraffe could have easily made this family's day a nightmare.
Thankfully, however, we can all have a good laugh now as we watch the animal's long black tongue swoop into the car for some grub and his ooey-gooey strands of drool landing all over the O'Hara family vehicle. That is some funny stuff!
