On May 17, 1944, Doyle and Mary Jane were married. Sixty-four happy years went by before their grandson uploaded the following video, "My Grandparent's Wedding." The footage reveals a time warp back in time to the good 'ol days, and one that holds up beautifully thanks to the crisp, pristine color and condition of the vintage film on which it was shot and preserved. "My great-grandfather had one of the early consumer 16mm cameras… the Cine-Kodak from the 1930s. The film itself, though scratched, is in amazing condition. Notice the incredible color of the Kodachrome."
This magnificent raw footage was shot in and around Portland, OR, in the 1930s and '40s. The film has held up so well, you can't help but feel immersed in their world. Doyle was so handsome in his sailor's uniform and Mary Jane was a stunner in her blue wedding dress. Songs like "I've Heard That Song Before" and "Heart and Soul" serve as a nostalgic backdrop as Doyle and Mary Jane steal kisses in the grass, congregate outside the wedding chapel, and drive off in their car with a "Just Married" sign disappearing into the distance.
