As someone who is terrified of heights, and I mean seriously petrified, when my mom told me she had decided to jump on a zip line ride at the age of 58, you can imagine how shocked I was. All my fears suddenly transferred over to her well-being, but it was already too late. She had already taken the plunge with a group of her friends and was telling me about it when she got back from vacation.
It definitely makes me wish I could be braver, but I'm glad to know I will hopefully have plenty of time to work up the courage — especially if I'm lucky enough to live as long as the great-grandpa in the video below. In fact, I was really dreading the birthday I have coming up until I remembered all the amazing things a person can do at any age!
And to be honest, I'll probably need a few more decades to find my nerve, but at 93 years old, Harold Robson found inspiration in his late wife. After losing her to Alzheimer's, Robson has become the oldest person to zip-line when he took the leap over the River Tyne in England.
His adventurous spirit not only honored her life, but raised funds for the Alzheimer’s Society. You can see the joy all over his face as he readies to make his jump, so much that he has already decided to do it all over again in seven years for his 100th birthday!
