Summertime is the perfect season to enjoy the great outdoors with friends and family. While the weather is likely to make you feel joyful and relaxed, there are a number of hidden dangers in your vicinity, or even in your own backyard, that can completely ruin your summer by harming you or your kids. And no one wants that!
If we didn't have enough to worry about with potentially dangerous fauna and flora, like the tick and wild parsnip warnings that have been circulating, now you need to worry about just how hot it can really get outside! If you're a parent, you need to take some specific precautions — and we don't mean just applying the right sunscreen. The sunny weather heats up everything in sight, including the playgrounds where your kids spend much of their time.
Hot playgrounds can mean trouble for kids and parents, which can occur regardless of the temperature outside. Even in 70-degree weather, the surface of the equipment can reach up to 150 degrees, and your child can suffer second, even third-degree, burns.
So, how can you prevent this kind of tragedy? Feel the surface of the slides, swings, and other parts of the playground before letting your child climb all over them!
