Hilary Swank has had so many incredible roles in her life. Now, she's about to embark on the biggest role ever: her role as a mom.
Hilary is expecting twins at the age of 48. While she's always wanted a family, for the actress, who has had such a tremendous career, it was important to her to wait until later in life to get pregnant. Now, she's opening up about that choice and sharing what pregnancy is like in her late 40s.
In a new interview with Extra, Hilary talked about being career-driven. “I was having a career and not having the right relationship until … four years ago, and all the elements needed to come together and be right,” she said.
“It’s just something I thought about even as a young girl,” she continued. “It’s something that was on my mind, so it’s nice to be here and just be pregnant.”
Hilary made the major announcement earlier this month when appearing on morning talk shows. She was absolutely beaming as she talked about her pregnancy. "This is something that I've been wanting for a long time and my next thing is I'm gonna be a mom," the Oscar winner said on Good Morning America. "And not just of one, but of two. I can't believe it."
But the actress revealed to Extra that the pregnancy hasn't been easy. She's had some intense bouts of morning sickness.
She says there is a likely explanation for how tough the beginning of her pregnancy was. “My friends tell me when you have double [on the way], it doubles the hormones, doubles the sickness, doubles the everything.”
Luckily, the Alaska Daily star is feeling much better now. Hilary and her husband Philip Schneider are looking forward to their April babies. For Hilary, that day has an extra special meaning. Her estimated due date is the same day as her late father's birthday.
Hilary called it a “beautiful” coincidence. “My dad, he was one of my favorite people in the world,” she said in October 2021. “It is kind of this tribute of life with them being born on this birthday. … It’s all aligning.”
Hilary definitely seems to be over-the-moon about becoming a mom. It seems that 48 is the perfect age for the star to start her family. Clearly, for Hilary, it was all worth the wait.
