Cute babies are all over the internet. Many youngsters have found fame online thanks to their angelic dispositions and faces. But imagine logging onto your computer and finding your baby’s face everywhere and being unsure of how his or her photo made it onto cyber space.
That’s exactly what happened to mother-of-two, Ariel Griggs.
The 29-year-old, who owns a tax agency in Alabama, was surprised to see her 22-month-old son Ashton Howell popping up on her social media timeline around Thanksgiving as a meme. She was, of course, terrified.
“My first thought was, ‘How did they get my baby’s pictures? I mean, I don’t have these pictures,'” Griggs told AL.com. “I’m thinking, ‘Let’s report it.’ You know, pictures are very intimate to me, very private. But it got to the point where it was like wildfire. You couldn’t stop it. I was very anxious and worried about his safety.”
Griggs was confused because she had never posted photos of Ashton on her social media, which she usually only uses to promote her tax business.
Later she found out that her brother, 18-year-old Steven Small, was the one who posted Ashton’s pics.
Turns out, her younger brother, a freshman in college, often babysat her son and thought he was adorable enough to make into a meme.
"He thought it was funny to dress Ashton up, putting his 'little' big head in caps and stuff and taking pictures of him. I found out he has tons of pictures of Ashton on Instagram. I guess people just thought his pictures were cute and went from there," she said.
Nicknamed “Honey Bun Baby,” Ashton has inspired many hilarious photos online, most of which Griggs approved of. “I thought that was so funny,” she said of his name. “People have been asking if I can have another child and name him ‘Cinnamon Roll.'”
As for little Ashton, he’s still grounded in reality, since he’s only 22 months old! “He doesn’t know what’s going on,” his mother explained. “He still wants his nap time. He’s still cranky in the morning. And getting on the potty is still big business.”
