Hospital Provides Heartwarming Wedding Ceremony For Man With Days Left To Live

At one point or another in your life, you've probably been told to embrace each day as if it were your last. The "carpe diem" motto has inspired countless individuals to chase after their dreams and make the most of their time on Earth.

Unfortunately, the phrase is a much harsher reality for those diagnosed with a terminal illness. Darren Sisk has recently found himself facing that brutal situation, but not for the first time. After battling Hodgkin's lymphoma, Sisk spent the last 15 years happily in remission. Today, the radiation treatments he received have sadly caused him to suffer a perforated bowel.

Despite their best attempts to mend and repair the organ, Sisk was informed he would only survive for another six months to two years. That news was heartbreaking enough, but soon they realized he had even less time left — perhaps not even a full week. Though there was nothing left they could do for his condition, the hospital staff worked together to provide Sisk with one last happy moment: a wedding.

Sisk's friends and family members gathered to wheel him down the aisle so he and his longtime girlfriend, Crickett, could finally tie the knot before it was too late. The couple met 10 years ago when Sisk helped protect Crickett's grandson from being struck by an oncoming vehicle.

The touching ceremony wasn't the only gesture given by the amazingly thoughtful staff. Sisk had hoped to survive long enough to see his daughter, Jayleen, give birth to his grandchild.
