Christie and Alex had been married for 10 years and didn’t have any children as they were both career-focused.
The couple would go out for simple dinners to celebrate special occasions like anniversaries or Valentine’s Day, but Christie always felt somewhat let down by the routine of it all.
Throughout their relationship, Christie had hopes of traveling the world with her partner. She felt like they could grow closer by experiencing these new adventures together, but Alex routinely turned her plans down. He would tell his wife that they needed to save money and could take trips together during their retirement.
Eventually, Christie fell out of love with Alex. Unfortunately, Alex was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, so things felt very complicated as Christie mulled over the idea of a life beyond her marriage to Alex.
One night, Christie received a call from the hospital where Alex was receiving care, letting her know that her husband was in poor condition and that she should come to see him immediately.
When she got to the hospital, even though he was having trouble speaking due to being so out of breath, Alex had some things to say to his wife.
