As a parent, it can often feel difficult to give up your sense of control when you send your kids off to school. After all, you hope that their teachers are treating them with respect and kindness, but that’s not always the case.
Second-grader Kamdyn Piland came home from school one day visibly upset. His parents tried to ask him what was wrong, and his dad soon discovered an inappropriate comment was written on his homework from his teacher. Kamdyn’s dad, Chris, was not going to stand for this.
Kamdyn wasn’t an overachiever at school by any means, but he had always done reasonably well and received decent grades. This type of circumstance was highly unusual. In fact, up until the second grade, Kamdyn always did all of his homework and had no problem handing assignments in on time.
When Chris saw the note written on Kamdyn’s assignment, he began to wonder if it was his son’s teacher, Alyssa Rupp Bohenek, who was the problem.
According to Fox 56 News, the note on Kamdyn’s homework read: “Absolutely pathetic. He answered 13 in 3 [minutes]. Sad.” Chris felt that this kind of comment was in no way constructive or encouraging.
Even though Bohenek had a reputation for being a strict teacher, it appeared that she had it out for Kamdyn. She was continually leaving him harsh comments on homework assignments and it was beginning to affect his self-esteem.
Chris decided to turn to social media to post about the teacher’s harsh comment on his son’s homework, and it totally exploded with supportive comments for both Chris and Kamdyn.
