Mommy Shamers Attack Jessica Simpson After She Shares A Photo Of Her 5-Year-Old Wearing Makeup

Jessica Simpson clearly loves to share her life with fans on Facebook — despite the fact that she winds up dealing with haters on a regular basis.

The singer-actress is a favorite target of mommy shamers who are eager to criticize her when they believe she is doing something wrong with regard to her two kids.

Unlike stars who rarely feature their kids on social media (including Drew Barrymore, Kristen Bell, and Mila Kunis), Jessica often shares photos of Maxi and Ace on social media. While commenters have critiqued her decision to wait until Ace was 4 to give him his first haircut, it's mostly photos of Jessica's daughter, Maxi, that have drawn the anger of her critics.

This time, Jessica shared what seemed to be a totally innocent photo of herself and Maxi enjoying a "mommy-daughter day" in MAC Cosmetics, Maxi's "favorite store." But very quickly, there was an outcry about the activity Jessica had chosen for their bonding time.

Jessica often shares photos of her two kids on Facebook.

As a result, she's no stranger to the mommy-shaming brigade.

The singer — who is known for her keeping it very real on Instagram — shares two kids with her husband, Eric Johnson.

Jessica's 4-year-old son, Ace Knute, and her 5-year-old daughter, Maxwell ("Maxi") Drew, are often pictured on their mom's Instagram account.

Unfortunately, not everyone agrees with how Jessica is raising her kids — and they aren't shy about saying so.

Earlier this month, Jessica was criticized for apparently dyeing Maxi's hair from its natural light blonde to a darker brown shade, for her Belle Halloween costume.

The mom of two rarely — if ever — responds directly to mommy shamers, but a source later defended Jessica to Us Weekly, clarifying that Maxi's hair hadn't been permanently altered.

"It was a spray-in color for her costume," they explained, "not permanent dye."

This time around, commenters had a field day when Jessica shared an innocent photo of herself with her daughter.

She explained that the two were enjoying a day of mom-daughter bonding.

"This is NOT an #ad, @maccosmetics is my daughter’s favorite store! Mommy-Daughter Day with #MAXIDREW #girlygoth," Jessica wrote.

The photo she shared was of herself (wearing oversized sunglasses and a hooded sweater) and Maxi pursing their lips into the mirror at a MAC Cosmetics store. In the picture, Jessica is wearing neutral makeup, but Maxi is wearing a more noticeable, dark purple lipstick shade.

Almost immediately, commenters emerged to question why Jessica was allowing and encouraging her daughter to wear makeup.

As usual, the 37-year-old didn't respond to comments directly herself.

But she had plenty of fans who decided to chime in and defend her.

Many of Jessica's critics seem to believe that she's influencing her daughter or forcing Maxi (even "brainwashing" her) to have an interest in makeup.

But this isn't the first time the little girl has shown an interest in cosmetics!

Back in 2014, Jessica shared a photo of a toddler Maxi wearing makeup. "Someone got into Mommy's lipgloss #POSER," she joked.
