John Travolta continues to mourn the loss of wife Kelly Preston.
Kelly died in July after a two-year-long private battle with breast cancer. It's been just three months, and the weight of her loss is still with the Travolta family.
John took to Instagram to remember Kelly on what would have been her 58th birthday. He posted a sweet photo of the couple on their wedding day. He added it next to a photo of his own parents on their wedding day.
John has been spending a lot of time with his children, 20-year-old Ella and 9-year-old Benjamin. The couple also had a son, Jett, who died in 2009 at 16 years old after suffering a seizure.
Those close to the actor say he's doing the best he can given the circumstances. John's always said his feelings for Kelly were love at first sight, so her absence has to be heavy and hard for the 66-year-old actor.
John Travolta is taking time out to celebrate his late wife's birthday. It's been just three months since John shared the news that Kelly Preston had lost her two-year-long battle with breast cancer. She'd decided to keep her illness private, which resulted in her death shocking many.
"It is with a very heavy heart that I inform you that my beautiful wife Kelly has lost her two-year battle with breast cancer. She fought a courageous fight with the love and support of so many," he wrote at the time.
"My family and I will forever be grateful to her doctors and nurses at MD Anderson Cancer Center, all the medical centers that have helped, as well as her many friends and loved ones who have been by her side."
"Kelly's love and life will always be remembered. I will be taking some time to be there for my children who have lost their mother, so forgive me in advance if you don't hear from us for a while," he continued.
"But please know that I will feel your outpouring of love in the weeks and months ahead as we heal. All my love, JT."
He shared a peek into the time he's spending with his children. A few weeks after Kelly's death, John shared a video of himself dancing with daughter Ella.
"My daughter @ella.travolta and I dancing in memory of momma. One of Kelly's favorite things, dancing with me."
Ella has also shared her own sorrows as she mourns her mom.
"I have never met anyone as courageous, strong, beautiful, and loving as you," the 20-year-old wrote.
"Anyone who is lucky enough to have known you or to have ever been in your presence will agree that you have a glow and a light that never ceases to shine and that makes anyone around you feel instantly happy. Thank you for being there for me no matter what.
"Thank you for your love. Thank you for your help and thank you for making this world a better place. You have made life so beautiful and I know you will continue to do so always. I love you so much mama.❤️."
October 13 would have been Kelly's 58th birthday. To celebrate, John shared a photo of the two on their wedding day, next to a photo of John's parents on their own wedding day.
"Happy Birthday hon!" he wrote.
"I found this photo of my mom and dad's wedding. It was nice to see ours alongside theirs. All my love, John."
Many friends and loved ones commented, celebrating Kelly and showing their support for John. One of them was Tommy Lee, who has been a longtime friend of John's. John and Ella recently enjoyed a meal with Tommy's family.
"Lovely lunch today with the Lee's. Happy birthday @brittanyfurlan!"
Another famous friend who has stuck close is Olivia Newton-John. In an interview with People (the TV Show), Olivia said that Kelly's diagnosis was "a very private thing" that the couple "chose to keep to themselves."
"I just know that she was a radiant, beautiful light in the world," Olivia noted.
Olivia was asked about how John's been holding up. She replied that he was doing "as well as it can be expected when you just lost your love, your wife, and the mother of your children.
"It's a really personal and private time for him, and I just support him and he knows that, but it's, you know, how good can anybody be in this time? So I'm just sending my love and prayers … He has a wonderful family and wonderful support system."
Olivia said that Kelly's journey really inspired her to get to work on her recently launched Olivia-Newton John Foundation, which will fund the discovery of kinder therapies for cancer.
Olivia said that Kelly's death "really strengthened my resolve to form this foundation because I've lost way too many friends to cancer, family members and friends.
"Having lived with it, this is my dream. This is my passion to see a world beyond cancer."
