Kate Hudson Gives Rare Comment On Raising Three Kids With Three Different Men

Kate Hudson is mom to three kids: Ryder, Bingham, and Rani. From everything she shares on social media, Kate adores being a mom.

Kate had each of her children at pretty different ages; she was only 24 when she gave birth to her oldest son, and she was 31 when Bingham arrived. Kate surprised many of her fans when she announced she was pregnant with Rani Rose at age 39, but she said she would welcome even more kids, noting, "I'm not done yet. A girl would be fun. We'll see how many Danny wants."

The actress rarely speaks about the fathers of her children, but she recently opened up about the fact that her kids all have different dads.

While speaking on Sunday Today With Willie Geist, Kate laughed about the situation. She said, "I've got multiple dads, I've got kids all over the place. The only expectations I really have that are really high on my life is with my kids and with family stuff."

She also opened up about how life at home is going these days:

"I wanna be, like, 'Yeah, it's so great and we're figuring out,' but the reality is that there are days that are great, and there's days that I have to remind myself to be grateful."

The father of Kate's oldest son is musician Chris Robinson, who is the singer for the Black Crowes and has fronted his own solo band. The pair met all the way back in May 2000 and moved in together in a matter of days; they ended up getting married on New Year's Eve of the same year.

Kate and Chris had a beautiful marriage for several years, with both crediting their relationship with significantly improving their lives. Chris told People, "I'm in such a better place as a husband, as a part of a family and a musician," and when Kate was asked what her favorite part of being married was, she said, "Him. Everything. My friend got married last week, and I told her, 'watch the minute you wake up, you will feel different.' I can't explain it."

However, Kate later revealed that everything wasn't exactly rosy in the beginning. In 2003, she told People, "In the beginning we were so volatile. We were so in love and passionate, and then we would just hate each other and throw stuff around, and then we would travel to Paris for a week."

Kate gave birth to Ryder on January 7, 2004, and his birth was a huge turning point for the couple. She said, "We're sharing something so gigantic now. I think it's the best we've ever felt being together."

Chris filed for divorce in November 2006. The pair had a prenuptial agreement in place, and they've generally shared joint custody of Ryder without issue. In 2008, Kate shared that the reason they divorced just came down to the marriage ultimately not being the best situation for everyone:

"Chris and I divorced for the right reasons — we just didn't work. But we remain extremely close."

Kate met Muse musician Matt Bellamy in the spring of 2010 and announced they were having a baby in January 2011. The two decided to get married and shared that they were engaged in April 2011; their son Bingham was born in July of the same year.

Kate and Matt ended up ending their engagement in December 2014, and Kate finally spoke on the topic the following year when she told Allure, "We chose to move on because we had different visions of how we wanted to live our lives. That doesn't mean, though, that we can't rebuild something that would be the best thing for the kids."

Kate and her partner, Danny Fujikawa, are actually old friends. The two met all the way back in 2003, when Kate was pregnant with Ryder. They ended up going on a hike together in 2016, and things took a turn for the romantic a few months later.

Kate shared their story in a sweet Instagram post on their first anniversary. "The first time I met Danny I was 23 and enormously pregnant with Ryder. His step sisters are my best friends @sarafoster @erinfoster and so it goes we have been in the same circle for over a decade!"

"A year ago today Danny took me on a hike and what I thought was just a hike with a family friend turned very quickly into an unexpected first date. No moves were made on this first date. In fact, it took months for him to make a first move! And as a kiss on this bridge would have been nice, the kiss a year later was so much sweeter."

The pair welcomed their daughter, Rani Rose, in October 2018. In February 2016, she told SiriusXM radio host Jennifer Hutt that she would love to have more kids:

"I really want more kids. You know, anywhere between four and six. I just love every bit of it. I love the insanity. I love the chaos. I love laughing with them. I love when I gotta raise my voice at them. I love gathering them all together. I love when I have all the kids."
