His Wedding Got Cancelled, But He Threw A Party Anyway. I Can’t Believe What He Did!

Have you ever wondered what happens when a couple plans their wedding and then things just don't work out? While most folks would rather take the financial hit and lose the down payment on their big event, others choose to take the lemons life handed them and make lemonade.

Or in this case, "LemonAID". Phil Laboon of Pittsburgh, P.A. was going to lose a lot of money on his pre-paid wedding reception after he and his fiancé called it quits. For most people, the story would end here, but instead of canceling the event, Phil spun it in an amazing way. 32-year-old Phil, who is a marketer by trade, decided to host a fundraiser, "LemonAID", for a local charity called Surgicorps International which provides free surgeries to children in developing countries.

News of Phil's good deed spread like wildfire. “Now we’ve had over 800 requests from people online asking to buy tickets, people wanting to fly in from other states that wanted to come and support this, people donating tens of thousands of dollars,” Phil told his local news station. The final total of the fundraising event is still being tallied up, but doctors from Surgicorps say the money will be used to help fund a trip to Africa later this month.
