Mariah Carey is reportedly filing for primary custody of the children she shares with Nick Cannon. The pair's twins, Moroccan and Monroe, are 11 years old.
A source tells Radar that the filing won't change much for the kids. As the source put it, "The reality of the situation is that Monroe and Moroccan are usually with Mariah anyway. Nick doesn’t see much of them."
Cannon recently celebrated the birth of his 12th child.
The source added that Mariah's hope is to get Nick's attention: "She wants to put him on notice that he can’t just flit in and out of their lives while he attends to his other children. And she wants legal standing as the twins’ primary caregiver."
Mariah and Nick were married in April 2008 and finalized their divorce by 2016. The twins are Nick's oldest children.
Nick has been open about how he struggles to see each of his 12 children. While speaking on The Checkup With Dr. David Agus, he explained, "Being a father of multiple kids, it’s always the biggest guilt on me is that I don’t get to spend enough time with all my children. One, ’cause I’m constantly working, and two, because I’m just spread thin."
Nick's 12th baby, Halo Marie Cannon, was born in December 2022. Halo is Nick's second child with Alyssa Scott; the pair's son, Zen, died in 2021.
Nick and Brittany Bell have three children together: son Golden and daughters Powerful Queen and Rise Messiah. Nick has praised Bell in recent years, writing on Instagram, "She has taught me so much about parenting, psychology, spirituality, love and just life in general."
Nick and Abby De La Rosa also share three children. They welcomed twins Zion and Zillion in June 2021 and their third child, Beautiful Zeppelin, in November 2022. Abby explained on Instagram that she's enjoying motherhood a lot, writing, "I’m excited to continue to build each child up in love, truth and encouragement."
Nick also has one child, a daughter named Onyx Ice, with LaNisha Cole and a son named Legendary Love with Bre Tiesi.
