Meghan Markle’s father, Thomas Markle Sr., has addressed the allegations against him. In a new interview with the Daily Mail, Thomas denied possessing CSAM and claimed that Meghan has kept him away from his grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet, due to “lies.”
The Daily Mail also reported that Thomas has been struggling with “cognitive issues” and recently received a diagnosis—a detail that the publication was given permission to share with the general public. British tabloid Metro specified that Thomas revealed he had ben diagnosed with dementia. Thomas also claimed that he did not remember any details related to a letter Meghan reportedly sent in 2025, the tabloid reported.
According to The Sun, Meghan told her father that she “knows he is an abuser” in this final letter she sent in 2025. Meghan has been estranged from her father since 2018.
Thomas claimed that he has “nothing to hide.”
He told the Daily Mail that he’s willing to cooperate with investigators. His son, Thomas Jr., is the one who reported him after allegedly finding “hundreds, if not thousands” of child sexual abuse images on his father’s old computer and phone in the Philippines. Thomas Sr. said he thinks these images were “planted,” as he has not had access to these devices for “nearly two years.”
“When I found this material, I was horrified and I had no option but to report my dad,” Thomas Jr. previously told the Sun. “I have supported, cared for him and helped him for years, but that stops now. I won’t speak to my father ever again unless I’m called to give evidence against him.”
Meanwhile, Thomas Sr. claimed that “if there is anything bad on there it was put there by someone else.” He said he “slept with prostitutes” in the Philippines, but “never had sex with anyone under the age of 18.”
“I like Asian women but that is not a crime,” he said.
His other daughter, Samantha, continues to stand by him.
Samantha is Meghan’s half-sister. She is currently Thomas Sr.’s primary caregiver and called her brother’s allegations him “cruel.”
“Dad is incredibly fragile both physically and mentally,” she said, per the Daily Mail. “I think it’s incredibly cruel of my brother to do this to him when he’s 82 and probably close to the end of his life.”
Meghan finds the allegations deeply distressing.

In a statement, Meghan revealed that she became aware of “troubling and disturbing allegations against (her) father” in 2018 or 2019 and “was given assurances that these were being investigated.”
She also said, “I hope it can now be understood that, despite certain media publications’ distortion over the years, any distance from my father and my choice to not allow him to have contact with our children was for one reason: to protect them.”
“I trusted that the authorities were doing the same for other families,” she continued. “Although the breadth of what has now been uncovered is more sickening than one could ever imagine, my sincerest hope is that justice will be fully served and that the priority remains the safety and protection of innocent children.”
A friend recently told People that processing all of this has “been really difficult” for Meghan. “She’s really cut up,” the friend said. “She has young children, and I think that, alongside the victims, is just weighing on her mind. It’s traumatic.”
