Singer Michelle Branch Reveals She Had A Miscarriage Just 2 Days Before Christmas

Michelle Branch celebrated Christmas with her beautiful family, but there was a bittersweetness in her day.

Michelle is married to Patrick Carney. The two have been together since 2015 and tied the knot in 2019. They share 2-year-old son Rhys. Michelle is also mom to 15-year-old daughter Owen with ex-husband Teddy Landau.

Michelle revealed on Christmas Day that she had experienced her first miscarriage. In an emotional Instagram post, she shared the news in a look back at a tough year for herself and the world at large. She joins a growing list of celebrity moms who have opened up about pregnancy loss during this already difficult year.

Michelle Branch revealed her miscarriage just two days after it happened in a candid Instagram post.

"Just when we were rounding third and heading home (A baseball metaphor?! I know.) 2020 was like, 'nah, I ain't done yet,'" she wrote.

Michelle then touched on the explosion in Nashville that occurred on Christmas Day.

"December decided to really finish us off with a bang! No, literally," she continued.

"A bomb went off in downtown Nashville yesterday."

Then, Michelle revealed her personal tragedy.

"And to further twist a dagger in my heart, I experienced my first miscarriage (ugh! [expletive]!)," she stated.

"But alas, between the crying and binge eating of Christmas cookies, I decided to put on lipstick and a dress."

"We drank champagne alllll day," she continued.

"Made an incredible meal and sang Christmas songs snuggled up by a roaring fire. 5 more days until 2021."

"I'm limping to the finish line," she shared.

"These people, my precious family, my husband, sister and kids have been the MVP’s. I couldn't imagine spending a year isolated with anyone else. Happy Christmas, everyone xx."

Michelle kept many details to herself, such as how far into her pregnancy she was. Typically, the term miscarriage refers to a pregnancy at or under the 20-week point, according to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Her privacy is her right, but what she has shared strengthens and adds to the voices of other women who have come forward with pregnancy loss this year.

Michelle and Patrick welcomed son Rhys in 2018. The pregnancy was a surprise for the couple, who postponed their nuptials upon discovering they had a little one on the way. They went on to get married the following year.

At their wedding, Michelle showed what a dedicated mom she truly is.

"A baby has to eat when a baby has to eat ✨ Dress is @temperleylondon @katchsilva," she captioned a beautiful photo she later shared of her breastfeeding Rhys on her big day.
