As a parent, you can try your hardest to instill kindness and empathy in your children, but it doesn’t always happen in the ways you had hoped for. Sometimes, though, our kids can surprise us in the best way possible.
Gloria McIntosh is a mother of six from Ohio who works as a writer when she isn’t busy with her kids. She has a supportive husband, but with six children, Gloria was still feeling at a loss at times in trying to properly watch over six young kids.
With that in mind, the couple installed a baby monitor in their youngest child’s room to help give them some peace of mind. They didn’t know when they put the camera in the baby’s room that it would allow them to bear witness to one of their other children’s utter kindness and caring nature.
One night, when the rest of the house was asleep, Gloria’s 10-year-old son, Mason, woke up in the middle of the night to comfort his 18-month-old brother, Greyson. Gloria was able to make this out through video footage, and she even later shared it on social media.
The thing is, though, Mason actually had no idea his parents were watching this take place. He didn’t even know the baby monitor existed.
“I was smiling the whole time. He has a love for Greyson that is unspeakable. I can’t even really explain it,” Gloria told Today Parents.
According to Today, in the video that Gloria shared on her TikTok, you can see Mason doing everything from comforting little Greyson to entertaining him with toys and books and even wiping his runny nose.
To say that this mother is filled with nothing but pride would be an understatement.
