In this day and age, it seems like many moms are working hard to get others to accept that breastfeeding a child is a normal act and should be acceptable in public. Mothers argue they will not let their babies go hungry, regardless of where they are.
But what still seems to be vague to many is the age until which a child should be breastfed. Many believe that the appropriate cutoff is 2 to 3 years of age, while other moms continue to nurse until their children decide to stop. This can last up until the child is 5 or 6!
Another point of contention is just how socially acceptable wet nursing is. Because breastfeeding is an act that bonds a mother and her baby, some consider wet nursing to be unnatural.
Lee Moffitt is a mother who is challenging both of these beliefs. She breastfed her own daughter until the age of 6, and continues to wet nurse other mothers' children as needed.

Lee Moffitt is not your typical mother: She believes in the benefits of breastfeeding so strongly that she is challenging popular reservations about the practice.

Moffitt's mother breastfed her until the age of 5, and in turn, she breastfed her daughter, Rose, until she was 6. She let the child decide when she wanted to stop on her own.

Moffitt doesn't stop there: She also nurses total strangers' children as needed. Often, these are either the babies of women who find themselves unable to produce enough breast milk or the children in her care, as she works as a nanny.

The mother created a group dedicated to her nursing practices online. While she receives a lot of support from some mothers, others have not been as receptive and open to her beliefs about breastfeeding.

Moffitt has been called "disgusting" and "sick" by total strangers when they discover some of the children's ages and the fact that they are not biologically hers.

But Moffitt defends her beliefs with passion and conviction: She thinks she has such a strong bond with her mother because of how long she was breastfed. She wants to provide the same for other children, especially those whose mothers have trouble breastfeeding, for a variety of reasons. She also says that wet nursing is a common practice in many countries!
