House Speaker Nancy Pelosi didn't have the best Memorial Day weekend. That's because late Saturday night, her husband, Paul Pelosi, was arrested and charged with driving while under the influence.
The 82-year-old was arrested in Napa County, Calfornia, at 11:44 p.m. and booked at 4:13 a.m. He has been charged with two misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence with a blood alcohol level of .08 or higher.
His bail was set at $5,000.
The arrest took place after the house speaker's husband was confronted by police after a crash. According to CNN, his 2021 Porsche was hit by a 2014 Jeep as he attempted to cross State Route 29.
The crash took place just a few miles from Pelosi's vineyard, River Run, which is in St. Helena. Luckily, no injuries were reported. The driver of the Jeep was not arrested.
The house speaker was not in the car at the time. Nancy was in Rhode Island, as she had a commencement speech to give to the Brown University graduating class on Sunday.
A spokesperson told People that she will not be commenting on "this private matter" that she was not present for.
Nancy and her husband have been married since 1963. They have five children together.
