Nick Cannon is continuing to work through the grief of losing his 5-month-old son.
On December 10, Nick debuted a new tattoo in honor of his son Zen. Zen, whom Nick shared with Alyssa Scott, died of brain cancer on December 5. Both mother and father have been deeply affected by the loss and seem to be supporting one another through it.
Nick discussed the loss on his talk show. Later that week, he thanked fans for their support and debuted the tattoo.
"This is a week when I've seen so much love, y'all, more love than I've probably ever experienced. Even in the midst of a loss, I’ve gotta say thank you to y'all," he told his audience, per People.
As part of his "Pic of the Day" segment, Nick showed a photo of his new tattoo in honor of Zen.
"Last night, I got the opportunity to go get a tattoo of my son Zen as an angel on my rib," he shared.
"I'm still all bandaged up and it hurts right here right now. It was a lot of pain but it was so well worth it," he continued.
"I enjoyed every moment of the experience to forever have my son right here as my rib, right here on my side, as my angel."
Nick then shared a video of the day he got the tattoo. The video shows him getting emotional seeing the finished product for the first time.
Nick also shared his appreciation for people who have encouraged him to take time away from work and the public eye, though that isn't how he's choosing to work through his loss.
"A lot of people keep asking me like, 'Man why are you even at work?' Especially my family members, 'Boy you need to go sit down somewhere, you got too many jobs already. Allow yourself to just be yourself,'" he said.
"And I appreciate that, all of that advice and I know it comes from a place of care," he acknowledged.
"But to me, this isn't work, this is love."
