This video tells the story of Noella, a wife and mother of eight children, who was supposed to be dead but then appeared at her own funeral, after surviving a horrifying ordeal.
In 2004, after becoming a widow, Noella took her five children and moved to Australia from Burundi, Africa, in hopes of a fresh start. She soon found a new job and a comfortable place to settle in with the help of a placement agency.
Through the agency, she met a man named Balanga Kalala, who fled the Congo after a rebel army attack. Balanga’s wife and young son had been killed. But he already knew English, and with Noella still learning, he helped her learn, and the two soon fell in love.
Noella and Balanga moved in together in a suburb of Melbourne, and in the subsequent years they had three children together and got married.
Noella later discovered another side to her husband, though. When he was tired, he would experience fits of rage that would turn physical at times. For the sake of her marriage and children, Noella tried to put those moments aside.
Back home in Africa, Noella’s stepmother who raised her died, and Noella decided to fly back on her own to pay her respects.
After experiencing a long and hard day there, she was on the phone with Balanga at her hotel when her husband suggested that she get outside for some fresh air. Taking a few steps outside, she found herself being held at gunpoint by a strange man. She was forced into a car, blindfolded, and driven away from her hotel.
Overhearing a phone call being made, Noella discovered that it was her husband Balanga who had ordered these men to kill her.
