It's never easy having a child in the hospital. No matter the reason, it feels impossible to walk out the doors and not have your little one going home with you.
Luckily, there are always people willing to step in and bring comfort to kids stuck in the hospital and their families, who spend so much of their time there as well.
Take these Florida first responders, for example. In partnership with "The Caden Project", they handed out more than 100 teddy bears to children in need of a little something to hold onto while they go through a scary time in their young lives.
Even celebrities find the time to give back and spend some time with the children. One of the most memorable? Johnny Depp dressing up as Captain Jack Sparrow from the Pirates of the Caribbean movie series and brightening up the days of kids in the hospital in Australia. The kids loved it!
For NICU Nurse Shirlene Hanson, spending time with hospitalized babies is a part of her everyday life. But along with the sadness, comes along a lot of miracles. The craziest one yet? 30 years ago, Hanson had the privilege of caring for newborn quadruplets. And now, her life has come full circle as one of this quadruplets, Magan Hinson, has a daughter in the NICU that needs a little extra care, and Hanson is able to be there for the family once again.
