This Orphan Is Only 6, But He Can Teach Us So Much About Grieving

How can someone so young, who has been through so much, still have so much love to share?

Losing a parent at any age is truly heartbreaking, but there's nothing worse for a young child than having Mom or Dad taken away…except for losing them both. Six-year-old Jaden Hayes has been there, losing his father at only 4 years old and then again when his mother passed away suddenly while she was sleeping. His mother's passing took place only a few short weeks before the following interview.

It's every child's worst nightmare, and at such a young age, you would think this kind of cruel, unfair pain and suffering would be too difficult to understand. However, in the following interview for CBS Sunday Morning, this young boy tells Steve Hartman how he is dealing with the heartache…and even encouraging others to smile.

When you lose someone you love, one of the hardest parts of the grieving process is having other people around you feel sorry and bad for you. Jaden was sick and tired of the sadness surrounding him and set out on a simple mission: to make others smile. With help from his Aunt Barbara, who is his new guardian, Jaden gives out tiny toys in downtown Savannah, GA as a way to make complete strangers happy. As you'll see, the response was overwhelming for some.

This orphan has been through the unthinkable and although he's still full of heartbreak, he wants to make a lot of people smile…33,000 to be exact. If enough people see this touching video, I'm sure we can help him exceed his goal…
