Mom Drives Past Girl In Front Of School, Pauses When She Reads Heartbreaking Message On Her Sign

The relationship between a parent and his or her child is one of the most meaningful connections there is. The students at Pendleton Elementary in South Carolina wanted to remind adults of that notion.

A group of kids got together and decided to take a stand after seeing some upsetting behavior from parents and grandparents dropping off and picking their kids up from school. They saw kids entering and exiting the car without their parents saying a word to them. No "hi," no "bye," no "how was your day?"

The kids decided to do something about it. They created a few creative picket signs to share with every adult passing by the school, hoping it would help their relationships with their children.

In the video below, posted on March 9, 2017, the kids chant "Kids want to talk!" and "Talk about your day!" They hold their picket signs high as parents drive by and realize that they can make a change.

"We wanted to like, bring attention to how we want parents to put down their phones and turn down their music and buckle up their kid," McConell Burdette explains as he holds up his "It's Talk Time" picket sign.

A student named Tymia Willis says, "A parent was coming in and they were listening to loud music and we showed her the sign and she turned [it] down and she said 'Thank you!'"

Their picket sign messages are certainly getting through to adults and making them realize just how precious that small amount of time with their kids is.
