Royal sources, followers, and commentators have spent much of this year intensely focused on just about every single thing Prince Harry does. To a degree, that's fair — Harry has drawn a lot of attention to himself in 2021.
Harry recently announced he is working on a memoir, which is due out next year. This news seems to have really sent a lot of royal insiders on a tailspin; now so-called "friends" of Harry are coming out and drawing comparisons between the father of two and one of his uncles, the notoriously embattled Prince Andrew.
Recently, a "friend" of Harry's told the Daily Mail that they believe Harry has a lot in common with his uncle. No, nothing potentially shady, dangerous, or illegal — the friend just says that Harry might similarly still be unsure of his place in the monarchy and in his family.
The friend told the publication that Harry is in a rush to make a big name for himself because he doesn't know how long the media and the public will truly be interested in him. After all, there are younger royals on the rise, including his own children.
The friend explains, "Harry has always been in such a rush to make an 'impact', because he thinks he has a limited shelf-life before the public want to hear more from George and his siblings and he worries that after that, he’ll turn into his uncle."
In fact, the friend believes that's why Harry is pushing to release a tell-all memoir at the age of 36. Of course, it could also be that Harry is releasing the book to close one chapter of his life as he moves into the next, or just because he wants to.
The book has truly spooked quite a few people. Harry's legal team recently hit back at particularly dark claims surrounding the publication. As the Daily Mail writes, "Harry’s lawyers have said the claim that he is waiting for his grandmother to pass away before releasing one of the books is ‘false and defamatory’."
The family also seems to have concerns about the writer Harry is working with.
"The Royal Family has been left deeply concerned by Harry's decision to secretly collaborate with Pulitzer-winning ghostwriter JR Moehringer. The two men have been working on the book for up to a year."
While a source close to Prince Charles has said the future king has "genuinely been so upset by it all. He just doesn’t recognise any of the examples or narrative," someone who works in the palace was reportedly much more pointed in their commentary:
"I fear they may sail into the sunset now, convinced they did the right thing by speaking 'their truth'. Now I hope everyone shuts the [expletive] up."
