Prince Harry And Ed Sheeran Team Up For World Mental Health Day: “Gingers Unite!”

Two of the United Kingdom's most iconic redheads are teaming up for a good cause. Prince Harry and Ed Sheeran got together to poke fun at their fiery hair and speak up about mental health in a new video. The video was shot for World Mental Health Day, which is observed on October 10.

Harry and Ed teased the collaboration on Wednesday with another video shared on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's Instagram account a day prior. In it, Ed can be seen ringing a doorbell. Harry comes and answers the door. "It’s like looking in the mirror," the prince jokes of seeing the musician. Then he invites him in.

If you're looking forward to getting a peek at Frogmore Cottage, however, you're out of luck. Fans have noticed that a photo hanging in the background of the video is from Princess Eugenie's October 2018 wedding to Jack Brooksbank. It's likely that the video was shot at her home, Kensington Palace's Ivy Cottage in London.

Prince Harry and Ed Sheeran share two very important things. Both are iconic gingers known and loved around the world. Both are also incredibly kindhearted people dedicated to making a difference in the world.

The two have recently teamed up for a video project celebrating World Mental Health Day. They teased their collaboration with a video shared to the duke and duchess's Instagram account, sussexroyal, on Wednesday.

In the short clip, Ed can be seen ringing a doorbell. The prince then answers the door. "Hi mate," Harry greets. He then notes, "It's like looking in a mirror" of seeing the redheaded musician. Ed asks to bring in the cameras before heading inside.

The video doesn't offer a glimpse at the much talked about and recently renovated Frogmore Cottage, however. Judging by the photo of Princess Eugenie from her wedding last year, it appears the video was shot at her home, Kensington Palace's Ivy Cottage.

Today, the video Ed and Harry created to observe and honor World Mental Health Day went live. The video has been shared on both of their Instagram accounts. It picks up from where the teaser video left off.

The two sit at a table, Ed with a laptop in front of him. Harry thanks Ed for coming out to collaborate, to which Ed tells him that this subject is something he's very passionate about. Harry responds, "You as well?"

As Harry goes into a discussion about how this topic isn't talked about enough and people around the world are suffering as a result, Ed reveals he's been trying to write a song about it to get the message across.

Harry agrees that someone with Ed's skills can write a song and really raise awareness. Ed responds, "People just don’t understand what it’s like for people like us — with the jokes and the snide comments. I just feel like it’s time we stood up and said, 'We are ginger, and we are going to fight.'"

As Harry clears up the "slightly awkward" miscommunication and clarifies that they're working on something for World Mental Health Day, Ed plays along as he secretly deletes the title to a song called "Gingers Unite" from his laptop screen.

The next shot shows the two sitting side by side speaking directly to the camera. "Guys, this World Mental Health Day, reach out to your friends, strangers, look out for anybody that might be suffering in silence. We’re all in this together," Harry says.

This latest move to support mental health initiatives is far from the first for Prince Harry. During his recent tour of Africa with Meghan Markle, Harry spoke candidly about some of the issues that he feels contribute to the stigma around the subject.

"I think most of the stigma is around mental illness we need to separate the two … mental health which is every single one of us and mental illness which could be every single one of us," Harry noted, according to the Express.

"But I think they need to be separated, the mental health element touches on so much of what we’re exposed to, these experiences that these kids and every single one of us have been through."

"Globally I think there’s a bit of a consciousness crisis, and so the fact we’re able to be here together to see on the ground so much good work that’s being done, just because people are willing to talk to each other about it and someone’s willing to listen is huge," Meghan added.

Prince Harry has truly made huge strides toward normalizing the conversation surrounding mental health in the past few years. From opening up about trauma in his own life to supporting organizations that help others, the work that Harry has spearheaded is definitely making a difference.
