Prince Harry And Meghan Markle’s New Baby Boy Will Probably Have This Last Name

He's finally here! After months of waiting and speculation, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have finally welcomed their little boy into the world.

News broke Monday morning that the Duchess of Sussex was in labor. A short while later, the birth of their first child was announced. Harry later appeared to brief the public, and it was clear the new dad was absolutely beaming. He expressed joy and awe at the experience, as well as admiration for Meghan's strength.

There are still a lot of questions about Baby Sussex that we're eagerly awaiting answers to: What's his name? Who will be his godparents? Have all the royal family members already met the little bundle of joy?

One question that gets asked often about royals is in regard to their last name. There are a few different possibilities, with tradition indicating the baby could use Sussex as his last name. Meghan and Harry are known to break with tradition, however, making the possibilities endless.

The royal baby is here! After a long wait, Baby Sussex has finally arrived.

Baby Sussex was born in the early morning hours of Monday, May 6, 2019. He weighed 7 lbs., 3 oz.

Harry was beaming when he addressed the press on Monday. He marveled at Meghan's strength throughout the delivery.

The birth was also announced via the traditional easel outside of Buckingham Palace. The easel is available for the public to view for 24 hours.

During the press conference, Harry mentioned that he and Meghan would see the press again in two days. It leads many to believe we'll see the first photos of the new family of three on Wednesday.

There are little details everyone is dying to know about the newest arrival to the royal family. We're eagerly awaiting word of the little one's name.

The odds are largely favoring family names. Other traditional names are also favorites, despite Harry and Meghan's untraditional nature.

Another name to consider is the baby's last name. There are some interesting rules and traditions when it comes to royals using last names.

Royal family members don't have standard last names. According to the royal family's website, "Members of the Royal Family can be known both by the name of the Royal house, and by a surname, which are not always the same. And often they do not use a surname at all."

In 1917, George V set a name that wasn't only a house or dynasty name but also a last name. That name is Windsor.

Queen Elizabeth made a change as well. It's been reported that Prince Philip was displeased that his children wouldn't carry his last name, so their children have the surname Mountbatten-Windsor.

Growing up, Harry and William used Wales as their last name. William and Kate's children now use Cambridge as theirs.

The tradition leads many to believe that Harry and Meghan's little one will use the last name of Sussex. They could also, in theory, use Mountbatten-Windsor.

Harry and Meghan haven't always upheld royal traditions, so it's hard to guess what they might decide. Due to the constant turmoil with Meghan's family, it's highly unlikely they'd use hers.

They might even use a last name they come up with on their own!
