Royal fans are hopeful that relations between the family at large are healing. Prince Philip's funeral brought the royals together for a somber occasion.
Around the globe, people tuned in to watch the royals mourn the patriarch and lay him to rest. As they did, they also paid attention to the mannerisms of the family at large. There have been tensions between so many different members throughout the years. Most recently, a lot of that tension has centered around Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Meghan did not attend the funeral due to her advanced stage of pregnancy, but she did send a flower arrangement and note. Harry had to self-isolate upon arrival until the funeral service, so only a handful of family members were able to see him ahead of that moment. It was believed he would be returning to the US on Monday, but now it appears he may take a few more days in the UK to celebrate the Queen's birthday with her.
Prince Harry is thinking of staying in the UK a spell longer to be with Queen Elizabeth, royal sources indicate. Harry arrived in the UK on April 11. Due to health regulations, he had to self-isolate, which he did at Frogmore Cottage, his former home that's now inhabited by Princess Eugenie, husband Jack Brooksbank, and newborn son August Philip Hawke.
It was expected that Harry would return to the US on Monday, following Saturday's funeral services. However, it seems that may no longer be the case. Harry is reportedly still in the UK as of Monday afternoon.
There was much note made of the fact that Harry and William didn't walk side-by-side in the funeral procession. At the end of the services, the two brothers were seen chatting as they walked off on the grounds of Windsor Castle. The 30 members of the family who were in attendance gathered privately afterward.
Following that gathering, which reportedly saw members of the royal family (Princess Anne and Prince Edward and his wife Sophie, per The Sun) snub Harry altogether, it's reported that Harry and William stayed behind with Charles, while Kate and Camilla returned home.
With the Queen's birthday coming up on Wednesday, sources believe Harry may be staying to spend the occasion with her. On Wednesday, Her Majesty will turn 95 years old. That would move his return to the US to late this week.
Harry and Meghan are due to welcome a baby girl early this summer. It's believed that Meghan may welcome their little girl sometime between mid-June and early July. Harry is also expected to return to the UK in early July to dedicate a statue of Princess Diana that is to be unveiled at Kensington Palace to honor her on what would have been her 60th birthday.
There's no telling where things for the royal family go next. There's a lot of hurt and a lot of healing needed. That being said, time slows down for no one. With Prince Philip's absence, there's no telling what will happen with the Queen. The monarchy is anticipating more big changes in years to come, and those changes will undoubtedly put the whole family through a ton of turbulence.
