Princess Beatrice And Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi Are Expecting Their First Child Together

Princess Beatrice is going to be a mom!

The 32-year-old Princess of York and husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are expecting their first child together. Edo is already dad to 5-year-old son Christopher Woolf "Wolfie" Mapelli Mozzi. Beatrice has been said to be a natural stepmom to Wolfie, so surely the couple is excited to make him a big brother.

The announcement came in a simple statement from Buckingham Palace on the morning of May 19. Beatrice will welcome her little one this fall.

The royal baby boom is continuing on. Just three months after little sister Princess Eugenie welcomed her first baby, Princess Beatrice has announced that she's pregnant with her first child. Beatrice and husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi were married in July 2020 in an intimate ceremony attended by just 20 people, including Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip.

Buckingham Palace shared the exciting news on Wednesday, May 19. "Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are very pleased to announce that they are expecting a baby in autumn of this year," the official statement reads.

"The Queen has been informed and both families are delighted with the news."

The new arrival will make Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson grandparents for the second time. The baby will be the 12th great-grandchild for Queen Elizabeth following the birth of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's baby girl in the coming weeks.

Beatrice and Edo have kept a low profile in recent months. Many believe they've been splitting their time between London and Italy, where Edo's family resides. The two also spend quite a bit of time with Edo's son with ex-fiancée Dara Huang. Surely, Wolfie is excited to be a big brother.

"He is very much part of their life," a source told People of the couple's bond with Wolfie.

"Edo is easily one of the best dads, he is so involved, and Beatrice is already showing that she's a fantastic step-mummy. They’ve been on family vacations together [with his son]. They are really happy."

Many royal fans are excited for Beatrice, but there have been some questions about the timing of this announcement. There was a bit of speculation that Beatrice could be expecting when the royals attended Prince Philip's funeral just a month ago. Yet the decision to announce on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's anniversary does feel a little pointed, leaving some to wonder whether it was the couple's decision or Buckingham Palace's.

Most are thrilled to see sisters Beatrice and Eugenie grow together in this next stage of their lives, as moms. The sisters have always been close and will likely need to lean on each other, as the controversy surrounding their father shows no signs of slowing down.
