It is a well-known fact that Prince Harry’s relationship with his extended family is strained. One would hope that the adults could prevent this drama from impacting the children of the family. Unfortunately, this does not seem to be the case.
Harry and Meghan Markle’s daughter Princess Lilibet Diana turned 2 years old on June 4, 2023. This day was not celebrated on social media by her grandfather, King Charles, or her uncle and aunt Prince William and Kate Middleton. A source told The Daily Beast this was protocol, but the occasion had been marked in the past.
Buckingham Palace asserts the king was not snubbing his granddaughter. The source stated that it has “never been protocol” to celebrate non-working royals on “official channels.” It is important to note that they did celebrate last year.
Perhaps there was a change in protocol. Maybe the palace thinks the public’s memory is not great. The source did go on to say that the king might have reached out privately, but would not say so with certainty.

This lack of social media birthday wishes was brought to public attention because Harry did not appear in court because of Lilibet’s celebrations. Harry is suing the Daily Mirror and accusing the publication of phone hacking. Justice Timothy Fancourt was not pleased with his absence. “I’m a little surprised,” he stated.
