Jude Law’s Son Rafferty Is Ready To Step Into The Spotlight: ‘I Really Try And Do Me’

Rafferty Law is the 24-year-old son of Jude Law and Sadie Frost. His father is, of course, an internationally known actor who is currently starring as Albus Dumbledore in the Fantastic Beasts franchise, and his mother is an actress, producer, and designer in her own right. Raff's sister, Iris, is a model, so it's really no surprise that he's also entered into show business.

What has surprised many is just how closely Raff resembles his father. While that's to be expected, their close physical similarities are startling.

Raff will make his feature film debut this year with the release of Twist, a modern retelling of the classic Charles Dickens tale, Oliver Twist. He recently sat down for an interview with GQ about the movie, his family, and what's next.

Raff shares that his parents have been supportive of his career from the beginning, even before it was something he took seriously:

"I don't think they felt strongly either way. They've been watching me in school plays since I was five and it's always been something I've loved doing, as well as music and writing, so they've been very supportive of me and my siblings following our passions and dreams. For them, if you work hard at something, the rewards pay off."

He also says that his dad is his best friend, and he doesn't compare himself to his famous father that often:

"I'm someone who really tries not to compare themselves to anyone else. I really try and 'do me'. My dad's my best mate; he and I have always been so close."

He also thinks it's pretty funny that anyone is surprised by his physical resemblance to his father:

"There's that comparison all the time and I find it quite funny, because obviously we're going to look quite similar — he’s my dad."

"It's nice because we do have similarities and we are so close, so now that I'm older he can help me work on scripts and I can send him my music and he can say, 'Yeah, that's great.' He's just happy to see me becoming a young man that he's proud to call his son."

Raff is also looking forward to the release of Twist. He was approached for the role, and he describes it as "a really fun, action-packed family film that will hopefully bring a bit of cheer to everyone at home right now."

However, the film itself isn't getting the best reviews. The Irish Times panned the film in its review. "There is little point moaning about the failure to capture any of original’s underlying menace. We can, however, chortle at how feeble Twist is at marking out its own contemporary territory."

The writer continues, "The art heist is muddled and implausible. David Walliams's guest turn is so disconnected one wonders if he was included involuntarily in the style of Eddie Murphy's Bowfinger. The dated ambience calls up thoughts of the 1970s kids show Here Come the Double Deckers."

However, it sounds like Raff will be just fine even if the film doesn't do that well:

"The pandemic taught me that although I love the social, rat race aspect of London, being out, going places and seeing people all the time, I'm really lucky to have such a tightknit family that supports each other. No matter what happens, if you have that, you feel happy."
