Serena Williams has won her first match in this year's US Open. It's believed that this will be the last time Serena competes in the event after she announced her plans to retire from tennis.

Next, Serena will play against the No. 2 seeded player in the tournament, Anett Kontaveit of Estonia. Serena and sister Venus Williams will also play a doubles match on Wednesday, August 31, 2022.

Several celebrities were on hand to help celebrate Serena. These included Queen Latifah, who introduced the tennis star, and Spike Lee, who tossed a coin to begin the match. Martina Navratilova and Mike Tyson were also in the stands.
