Kitt Wakeley and his little sister, Tasha, were removed from their home by child protective services in Oklahoma when they were little kids. The young siblings endured abusive and unstable childhoods together.
They were moved from one foster home to the next, but at least they knew they always had each other.
That was, until the heartbreaking day a foster care representative came to split them up forever, despite their cries of protest.
Kitt and Tasha ended up in separate adoptive homes with different last names.
Kitt grew up to become a successful musician, husband, and father. Tasha became a wife and mother.
Life had moved on, but Kitt and Tasha never stopped wondering what had happened to each other. Forty years had passed since they were split up, and that void was simply never filled.
Then one day, Kitt received a Facebook message.
"I'm your sister," the message read.
This Facebook exchange led to a surreal in-person meeting at a local restaurant in Oklahoma. The woman who emailed Kitt was, in fact, his long-lost biological sister.
Then Kitt and Tasha realized that for the past four decades, they'd been a lot closer than they'd thought.
