When you get inside of a car, either behind the wheel or as a passenger, there are many dangers that can occur at any moment.
As the weather gets colder, most people prepare themselves to drive in the snow or across patches of black ice.
But there is no way to prepare for a sudden car fire, as Richard Symchuk found out when this happened to him.
Symchuk and his son were heading home from breakfast at Tim Horton's when a fire suddenly burst out from under the car's hood.
The father was able to get out of the car quickly, but his 30-year-old son (who lives with Down syndrome) was stuck inside.
Concerned passersby quickly pulled over to help the father and son before things got too serious. Ross Ewbank saw the flames and knew he had to act fast, helping Symchuk's son leave the vehicle before the entire car was engulfed in flames.
Joanne Boulet was also driving by when the incident occurred and noticed the pair was in shock. She offered a warm seat in her car for Symchuk's son while they waited for rescuers. Had these strangers not been there to help and show kindness to this family, the incident might not have had such a safe outcome!
