They Teased This Cop For Dressing Up As Superman. Then I Saw Why He Does It…I’m Crying!

Dallas police officer Senior Cpl. Damon Cole isn't quite like the other cops: He is a bit of a superhero.

During his spare time he wears both Superman and Iron Man costumes.

He actually reminds me of the dad who dressed as Spider-Man to surprise his terminally ill son.

But he does what seems like a dorky hobby for a very good reason. His peers tease him, but that doesn't bother him one bit.

Damon knows that the uniform he puts on for work and the uniform he puts on in his spare time both serve the same purpose: to help others.

He is a part of an organization called Heroes, Cops, and Kids that brings police officers, community leaders, and Dallas families together.

The grownups dress up as heroes and provide kids with motivational speaking. It's a way to unite the people and the folks that protect them in a positive way.

However, when Damon heard about one special Superman fan he went above and beyond.

This is Senior Cpl. Damon Cole of the Dallas Police Department. He saves lives as an officer, but he doesn't really have superpowers.

He's got a pretty tripped out super-car, too.

Heck, sometimes he is even Iron Man.

Though he's passionate about his hobby, which costs him time and money, he says his coworkers tease him: "You know I get teased like nobody's business at work. I mean, nothing is harder than going in front of my peers."

So why does he endure all the teasing and the expenses? For one powerful reason...

His reason: these very special kids.

When Damon learned 7-year-old Bryce was battling cancer, he got into his car and drove 11 hours just to meet the Superman fan.

"If I can make that little kid's day, I don't care if I have to drive to New York or Maine or Seattle. Why not do it? I'm not rich, I'm not famous, but kids light up when they see me in the car and the costume," he said.
