Tara Lipinski is a mama! The 41-year-old Olympic gold medalist shared the news that she and her 40-year-old husband, Todd Kapostasy, welcomed a baby girl via surrogate after a years-long infertility journey. Tara, who has endometriosis, learned that there was a reproductive immunology problem, meaning her body would reject their fertilized embryo.
"I went through four pregnancies, four miscarriages, four D&Cs," she shared. "I felt so unseen, so unheard for so long. I was tired of not sharing," the former figure skater also said about launching her podcast Unexpecting with her husband.
"I dreamt about this for so long," she shared. "A crying baby, sleepless nights. Even when I'm like, 'Okay, take an hour nap,' I'm almost too excited. I'm like, 'She's there. Just watch her a little longer.'"
After her last miscarriage, Tara decided she had put her body through enough and decided to look into other options, which is where surrogacy came in. Her surrogate, Mikayla, became pregnant with one of the couple's fertilized eggs earlier this year.
