Teen Son Of Late Foo Fighter’s Drummer Taylor Hawkins Honors Him With Epic Performance

Taylor Hawkins' teenage son, Oliver Shane Hawkins, just paid tribute to his dad in the most moving way.

The 16-year-old sat in with a local cover band in Laguna Beach, California, called The Alive. The song they played was fitting: the Foo Fighter's jam "My Hero."

The teen tore it up while onstage in a performance that was shared on TikTok with the caption, “When Taylor Hawkins’ son gets on the drums and dedicates the song ‘My Hero’ to his dad. The hawk would’ve been proud."

Taylor Hawkins was a massive talent, having been the Foo Fighter's drummer since 1997. He and frontman Dave Grohl were immensely close, often talking openly about their incredible bond. They weren't just bandmates but best friends.

Dave reflected on the special relationship in his book, The Storyteller. "Upon first meeting, our bond was immediate, and we grew closer every day, every song, every note that we played together," he wrote in the memoir. "I am not afraid to say that our chance meeting was a kind of love at first sight, igniting a musical 'twin flame' that still burns to this day. Together, we have become an unstoppable duo, onstage and off, in pursuit of any and all adventure we can find.”

Taylor's wife, Alison Hawkins, shared a statement months after his March 25 death. “My deepest thanks and admiration go out to the global Foo Fighters community and Taylor’s fans far and wide for the outpouring of love each and every one of you have shown [our] beloved Taylor,” she wrote. “Your kindness has been an invaluable comfort for my family and me during this time of unimaginable grief.”
