Teen Misses Prom In 1961. 56 Years Later, Her Grandson Convinces Her To Be His Date

Michael Ganczewski could have chosen any girl to go to prom with. The high school senior knew girls who were simply dying to be the lucky girl to attend the event with him, but he knew none of them were a good fit.

He was without a date up until two weeks before the big day. Then his grandmother Josephine told him about her 1961 prom, and that she never made it there. Her family couldn't afford it.

That's when the sweet teen knew she should attend prom with him.

When he asked her, the grandmother refused at first, thinking she's too old to go. But after some convincing, she finally said yes!

Josephine was surprised to know what prom is like nowadays. She had no idea, for example, that prom won't be held at the school itself.

Michael's school has a policy regarding dates, and that they can't be over the age of 20. He had to get special permission from the principal, who happily agreed to let Josephine attend prom after meeting her! Michael even has support from his classmates, who think his gesture was very sweet.

This young man and his nana are bound to have the time of their lives. He's kind to give his grandmother the experience she never had!
