Sometimes we go through life without a thought as to how we can look out for our fellow human beings. The daily grind can keep us so busy that we simply forget how important it is to care for each other, pick each other up when we fall, and give each other the benefit of the doubt in difficult situations.
In this beautiful Thai Life Insurance commercial, we get a really good glimpse at just how important those moments can be. It's a great reminder that life is short and we all need each other sometimes.
As a man walks down the street, he suddenly feels a stream of water land on his head. He steps back and looks up to see that it's from a drain pipe. Instead of getting angry, however, the man grabs a dying plant from the curb and places it under the falling water before he moves on.
He sees an older street vendor having trouble getting her car up onto the sidewalk, so he walks over to help her.
Next, a hungry dog comes begging as he eats his lunch. Instead of shooing the pooch away, the man gives the dog some of his food.
Then he comes across a mother and daughter begging on the street for money. The daughter's sign says "For Education" so he slips a few bills into her cup.
Finally, he hangs a bunch of bananas on an elderly woman's door and walks away.
At first, all of these people (and bystanders) are unimpressed by his kindness, wondering why he would go out of his way to do these things. But as the man continues to do them day after day, he begins to form a bond with these people (and animals). They come to rely on him and they start to blossom on their own with his help.
Meanwhile, the narrator asks the important question, "What does he get in return?" for all of these good deeds. The answer, of course, is "nothing." Nothing but the emotions that come with helping others and seeing them flourish.
"He witnesses happiness," the narrator continues. "Reaches a deeper understanding. Feels the love. Receives what money can't buy. A world made more beautiful."
The greatest moment comes at the 1:50 mark when he sees the girl that was begging for money on the street, now all clean and dressed in her school uniform. The money he has been giving her has given her the chance to better herself, and what could possibly be better than knowing he's made a difference like this in her life?
Sure, this video is a commercial for life insurance, but it is one of the most emotional, heartwarming short films that we've seen online. It's a fantastic reminder that we can all do a little bit more for each other and the reward is "a world made more beautiful."
Please SHARE this emotional video with all your friends and family! If we all remembered to look out for each other more often, the world would be a much better place.
